Thiès : Deux ans de prison pour le "jakartaman" qui a sectionné le doigt d’un gendarme à coups de machette

Twenty-three-year-old motorcycle taxi driver S. Sèye was sentenced to two years in prison. He was prosecuted for possession of a firearm without authorization and assault and battery after attacking an off-duty gendarme, MD, with a machete after the gendarme had asked him for a ride.

According to the case file, the gendarme had left the central market of Thiès to go to the Grand-Thiès neighborhood. Upon arriving at the motorcycle taxi stand, he approached S. Sèye without first discussing the fare. He then transferred 300 CFA francs to the motorcyclist's phone before informing him.

Believing this amount insufficient for the fare, the "jakartaman" demanded 500 CFA francs. The gendarme replied that he had already paid that fare for the same trip.

When they reached the 10th district hospital, the motorcycle taxi driver ordered the passenger to get off his motorcycle, leading to an altercation between the two men. It was then that the motorcyclist pulled out a machete concealed on his motorcycle and struck the gendarme several times, severing his left index finger. Afterward, S. Sèye fled to Touba.

A few days later, thinking the matter had died down, he returned to Thiès to resume his activities. He was then arrested and remanded in custody.

Appearing before the court for flagrant offenses on Wednesday, February 25, he initially denied the charges before explaining that he acted as he did because he believed his client intended to attack him and steal his motorcycle because it was dark. He also claimed he was unaware that the victim was an off-duty police officer.

For his part, Gendarme Mr. Dieng stated that it all started with a disagreement over the fare for the trip to Grand-Thiès. And when the accused brandished his machete, he backed away in an attempt to calm the situation, but to no avail.

The public prosecutor considered the facts to be established and requested a three-year prison sentence. The court found the defendant guilty and sentenced him to two years in prison.

Quelqu’un qui ose frapper un être humain avec une machette mérite plus que 2 ans de prisons. 5 ans auraient été bien pour le transformer en tapette.

I get paid over $130 1 to 3 hours working from home with 2 kids at home. I never thought I'd be able to do it but my best friend earns over $27k a month doing this and she convinced me to try. The potential with this is endless. Heress----------- Www.Work27.Info
