Thiès : Un chauffeur de "War Gaindé" arrêté pour trafic de crack

Last Saturday, the Thiès central police station arrested a suspect for drug possession and trafficking. This arrest follows a high-quality operational intelligence report that reported the existence of a crack trafficking network operating on the Mbour-Thiès axis, Seneweb learned from the police.

Preliminary investigations have established that the suspect was using his public transport vehicle, commonly known as "War Gaindé," to transport drugs. His illicit activities were mainly concentrated around the Lat Dior stadium, a strategic location in the city of Thiès.

A successful surveillance operation

On Saturday, August 16, 2025, at 4 p.m., a specialized team from the police station was deployed to the field for a targeted surveillance mission. After a few minutes of discreet observation, the vehicle matching the description provided by intelligence appeared. The sleuths waited for the right moment to spring into action. In a coordinated operation, the officers quickly surrounded the vehicle and arrested its driver without major incident.

Damning evidence discovered

The body search and vehicle search revealed evidence. Investigators found a bag containing seven crack cocaine stones, weighing approximately 35 grams, in the suspect's personal bag. 200,000 CFA francs in cash was also seized, likely the proceeds of his illicit activities.

In accordance with criminal procedure, the suspect was then brought before the competent prosecutor. All evidence - including the vehicle (a Peugeot 308), the seized money and the drugs - was officially placed under seal and made available to the public prosecutor for further investigation.
