Thiès : un jeune motocycliste se tue en percutant le rond-point de Mbour-4 (vidéo)
On the night of Monday, August 18, 2025, at around 11 p.m., a young man riding an X-Max scooter lost his life in a tragic accident at the entrance to Thiès, near Sinthiou Yoro Sadio, in the Mbour-4 area (commune of Thiès-Ouest).
Driving at high speed from the toll motorway, the youth, apparently unfamiliar with this area known for its accident-prone nature, apparently failed to see the roundabout. He hit it head-on, causing a sudden fall that cost him his life instantly. His scooter sustained significant material damage. With no identification on him, the victim has not yet been identified. His body was transported by firefighters to the morgue at the Ahmadou Sakhir Ndiéyène Regional Hospital in Thiès.
A dangerous roundabout
Pape Oumar Faye, a local resident, denounces the constant danger posed by this roundabout, the scene of numerous accidents recently. The mayor of Thiès, Dr. Babacar Diop, a direct witness to the scene, expresses his shock: "What I saw was very violent, very atrocious. This tragedy calls on all of us to consider our responsibilities. I never stop talking about road and rail safety and public lighting. A lack of lighting can lead to violence that causes loss of life, as happened here."
Dr. Diop revealed that he alerted Ageroute a few weeks ago about the need to light this road. He announced that the town hall plans to begin work by October. In the meantime, he called for urgent measures to prevent further tragedies.

Ce rond point est dangereux les gars ne respectent jamais la priorité. Je suis de Dakar mais je passe des fois là-bas. Autre chose, les jakarta de Thiès est des indisciplinés pro max à traverser les routes transversalement pour ne pas prendre les ronds point. Leur maire fera mieux de régler ça au lieu de vouloir mettre des feux de signalisation qui serviront à rien tant que les gens ne sont pas éduqués.
Interpeller, on s'en fout. On te demande d'aller acheter immédiatement des signalisations puissantes à mettre sur ce rond point et des lampadaires solaires pour borner cette autoroute. Yen a marre wakh rek. AGISSEZ IMMÉDIATEMENT, DOUL WAY
