Trente ans après le divorce : un sexagénaire frappe son ex-femme devant son nouveau mari
In Mbour, Mademba B. (69) was tried for assaulting his ex-wife thirty years after their divorce. According to L'Observateur, which attended the hearing, the incident took place on September 20 at their sick daughter's home, in the presence of Diary D. (60) and her new husband. Mademba B., in a fit of anger, hit his ex-wife with a large chain and threatened to kill her, before the sixty-year-old was saved by her new husband and grandchildren. The victim filed a complaint and presented a medical certificate attesting to a seven-day temporary incapacity for work (ITT).
Before the Mbour District Court, the accused partially admitted the facts, claiming to have been provoked and to have acted impulsively: "[M]y ex-partner was the first to provoke [me] with barbs, while [I] was making tea for her new husband."
For his part, Diary D. testified that "Mademba always displayed extreme violence towards me" and showed his scars, attesting that the violence persisted despite the divorce.
The court found Mademba B. guilty and sentenced him to a four-month suspended prison sentence. He must also pay 100,000 CFA francs in damages to his ex-wife.

C’est en voyant un moustique se poser sur ses testicules que l’on s’aperçoit qu’on ne peut pas régler tous les problèmes par la violence
