Tivaouane : Les populations de Koul s'opposent à l'exploitation d’une mine de phosphate
The public hearing convened yesterday by the prefect of the department of Tivaouane regarding the validation of the operation of a small phosphate mine ended inconclusively.
Gathered within the collective called "Samm Sunu Moomel", led by Mamadou Bousso Diop, the people came from about fifteen villages. They expressed their concerns and categorically opposed the project, believing that the establishment of an extractive activity would threaten the agricultural land inherited from their ancestors.
They denounce the adoption of the protocol "without prior public consultation" and assert that they will never accept the sale of their land, their environment, and their future. They argue that by authorizing the opening of a mine in the commune of Koul, Mayor Modou Fall is acting "in his own self-interest."
The fears of the people of Koul, who, due to multiple nuisances, oppose the decision to open the exploitation of phosphates to Envis SA, have been confirmed by the environmental and social impact study whose results were recently shared by the collective "Samm Sunu Moomel".
According to the document, the exploitation of these phosphates in Koul will have harmful effects on the local population, including air pollution, changes in the noise environment, landscape alterations, risks of groundwater contamination, degradation of the living environment, and losses of economic activities, including agriculture and livestock farming. This is in addition to the risks of harm to the social and cultural environment, as well as accidents and illnesses.

Le sous-sol de l'ancien Cayor est remplie de phosphate. Mais les populations ont été manipulées par des activistes à travers les réseaux sociaux.
La zone est aride et ne se prête pas à l'agriculture de contre saison. Une activité minière responsable peut être une aubaine pour les populations.
Cependant il faut être disposé à dialoguer sans surenchère ni pression sur les investisseurs.
Une mine de phosphate peut être moins polluante qu'on ne ne le pense et peut être une bonne opportunité pour le grand Cayor

Pourquoi les populations ne seraient pas majeures pour exprimer ce qu-elles souhaitent éviter de dégâts à son terroir. C'est normal, mais roujours quelqu'un cherche une pseudo manipulation des pipulatoons xomme si elles sont betes!
