Tivaouane Peulh : Il viole deux femmes sous la menace d'un couteau, la gendarmerie le cueille
A man suspected of a series of rapes was arrested on the night of Monday, February 16, 2026, by the local police in Tivaouane Peulh. The suspect broke into his victim's home by climbing over the stairs. Armed with a knife, he threatened her to silence any cries for help before raping her.
But the cries for help did not escape the vigilance of the neighborhood, Seneweb learned from Colonel Ibrahima Ndiaye, head of the Communication and Public Relations Division of the National Gendarmerie.
Alerted by local residents, officers from the Tivaouane Peulh brigade responded immediately and apprehended the predator. During a body search, the gendarmes seized the knife used to terrorize the victim, as well as two stolen cell phones.
The day after his arrest, a second woman went to the police station to file a complaint. She said she had been a victim of the same man on the same day. After formally identifying the suspect, she described disturbingly similar events. This new complaint raises the question of a possible serial predator and opens the door to further revelations.
Placed in police custody, the suspect is now at the center of a thorough investigation. The police are conducting numerous interviews to establish a timeline of events and identify any other potential victims. The charges against him are particularly serious: rape, pedophilia, abduction of a minor, death threats, and theft.
The National Gendarmerie is calling on anyone with information to contact its call centre free of charge at 123 or 800 00 20 20.
