Tivaouane Peulh : La police démantèle un réseau clandestin de diffusion de chaînes de télévision
As part of the fight against audiovisual piracy, the National Brigade for Combating Piracy and Counterfeiting (BNLPC) of the National Police conducted a successful operation this Wednesday in Tivaouane Peulh. The intervention, which proceeded without incident, led to the dismantling of a clandestine network illegally broadcasting television channels.
The fraudulent operation was set up in a two-room apartment: one room housed all the broadcasting equipment, the other served as a dormitory. It was in this latter room that the BNLPC officers arrested P. Amar. During questioning, he explained that the network belonged to his uncle, PA Thiam, who had entrusted him with the safekeeping of the equipment and the collection of subscriptions.
Shortly afterwards, PA Thiam spontaneously presented himself to the service, acknowledging that he was the sole owner of the network which he claims to have been operating since 2018 according to Seneweb sources.
The inventory of seized equipment is particularly extensive:
77 decoders (Canal+, Star Times, Star Trek, beIN Sports, TNT Senegal)
50 fiber optic receivers
3 transmitters (2 outputs)
1 EDFA
2 solar batteries
1 rack system 16-1
1 Orange Wi-Fi modem
1 multi switch (2 outputs)
Having been informed of the operation, the Public Prosecutor at the High Court of Rufisque ordered the suspects to be taken into custody.
The investigation is ongoing.
