Tivaouane Peulh-Niague : Les habitants de Namora pris au piège des travaux de réhabilitation de la route
Residents of Namora, in the commune of Tivaouane Peulh-Niague, are living in a life of misery. During the rainy season, their neighborhood is virtually cut off from the rest of the commune due to unfinished road rehabilitation work.
This work, which came to an abrupt halt at the Tidiane hardware store stop, has had serious consequences for local residents. The section leading to the inner cities of Namora is now flooded with rainwater, transforming the streets into swamps and making all vehicle access impossible.
An isolated neighborhood deprived of basic infrastructure
Furthermore, "we lack everything. No elementary school, no pharmacy, no health center, no market. We have nothing in Namora. We had great hope for this road, unfortunately, you saw the state it is in. We can no longer go about our business. This is unacceptable," says Sokhna Maï Mboup, the "badiene gokh" (community representative) of Namora.
This situation is impacting the daily lives of families. Children attending school during the summer struggle to reach schools located outside the neighborhood, the sick have to travel long distances to access healthcare facilities, and businesses are seeing their businesses paralyzed.
Furthermore, residents denounce a glaring lack of communication from local authorities. "There is a communication deficit. In such a situation, they should have informed the population about the reasons that led to the abandonment of the construction site. We feel like we've been left behind," explains Ibrahima Cissokho, a resident of Nam
Faced with this disarray, the population is appealing to municipal and state authorities to resume work and address their basic infrastructure needs. For them, the Namora road is not just a matter of mobility, but of survival and dignity.
