Touba : 3 vidéos posthumes dévoilent les raisons du suicide d'un père de 12 enfants
Seneweb has learned more about the reasons behind the suicide by gunshot of a father in Touba. In three posthumous videos discovered on his phone, the shopkeeper explained the motives for his tragic act.
Yesterday, Thursday, January 1, 2026, at around 9 a.m., MC, a merchant residing in the Tally Boubess neighborhood, went to the Ndamatou district police station to report the suicide of his nephew, Mr. Diop, aged 51. Mr. Diop, also a merchant, lived at the same address and had just taken his own life by shooting himself in the head.
The transport carried out on the scene by the police revealed the presence of a lifeless body, lying on its back in a room.
Investigators found an open wound on the head caused by a gunshot wound. A Walther P22 .22 caliber automatic pistol was recovered at the scene, then seized and placed under seal for the purposes of the investigation, according to Seneweb sources.
A diabetic who has been suffering for a month
According to his close relatives, Mr. Diop suffered from diabetes and was receiving treatment at Matlaboul Fawzeyni Hospital. Bedridden for nearly a month, he frequently complained of sleep disturbances and pain in his abdomen, head, and various other parts of his body. He lived in a family home with his two wives and twelve children.
Three incriminating videos discovered
The analysis of his mobile phone revealed three video recordings made during the night of December 31, 2025 to January 1, 2026. The first lasted forty-three seconds, the second one minute seven seconds and the third one minute eight seconds.
In these posthumous videos, Mr. Diop mentions debts he allegedly incurred with individuals whose identities have not been revealed.
He mentions the store where his younger brother B. Diop works, specifying that he himself inherited this business from his father, but that his relatives would now like to attribute it to B. Diop and their separation after fourteen years of collaboration.
According to Seneweb sources, these accusations, combined with his diabetic condition, constitute the reasons that justify his desperate act.
The body was taken to the morgue by firefighters. In accordance with the judicial order, Dr. KASS, a physician at Ndamatou Hospital in Touba, conducted a medical examination of the deceased.
In his certificate of cause of death, the practitioner concluded that there was a "severe encephalic traumatic brain injury with right temporal otorrhagia from a firearm", thus confirming a "violent death by firearm".
An investigation has been launched to shed full light on this family tragedy.
