Développement durable : L’ONG Nebeday labellise 41 écoles dans le département de Foundiougne
Following a general meeting held this Thursday in its stronghold of Toubacouta, the NGO Nebeday, Environmental Protection, set up an executive committee of the Network of Schools for Sustainable Development (RED), chaired by the departmental education inspector of Foundiougne.
As soon as it was set up, the RED already had 41 members in the IEF of Foundiougne, school structures which must however comply with the organization's specifications to obtain the various labels in terms of sustainable development.
"Since 2019, Nebeday has reached 52,000 students through environmental education. Through this project, which involves academic stakeholders, we want the school community to become more open to sustainable development through these various certifications, which will not be complacent, believe me," explains Jean Goep, a founding member of the NGO based in the capital of the Saloum Islands. This initiative showcases the educational structures of Foundiougne.
For his part, Ahmed Georges Diouf, the president of the committee, welcomed a new eco-citizen approach involving the educational world at the forefront.
Please note that the aim of this program is to raise awareness among children about the need to protect nature and development through strategies implemented at school.
