Trafic de drogue dure : le film en trois épisodes de la chute de sept fournisseurs des quartiers Dieuppeul, Cité Keur Gorgui, Sacré Cœur…
The Dakar Criminal Investigation Brigade and the Central Office for the Repression of Illicit Drug Trafficking (OCRTIS) have made a major breakthrough. They dismantled a drug trafficking network supplying the Dieuppeul, Sacré Cœur, Cité Keur Gorgui, and Sicap Foire neighborhoods. Seven of the eight gang members were arrested and brought before the prosecutor on charges of criminal conspiracy, drug possession, complicity in drug trafficking, and money laundering. The eighth member, Pape D., is still at large.
According to L'Observateur, which covered the case, the gang's downfall unfolded in three stages. First, the suspects had to be identified. "The successful investigation revealed that it was the gang of Dj. Diarra, PG Tall, DB Guèye, AS Guèye, PI Sarr, SF Sagha, J. Ndiaye, and PD," the newspaper reported. Next, the gendarmes and police officers worked to apprehend the suspected drug dealers. On January 13, PI Sarr was arrested in the Keur Gorgui neighborhood. He was found in possession of three joints of hashish and "several balls of hard drugs," the daily newspaper reported.
"His downfall followed a tip that led investigators to a sheepfold belonging to another influential figure in this mafia," the same source continued. "Identified as P. D. (currently on the run), he is suspected of having a slab of hashish. It was in this sheepfold, which housed 27 sheep and poultry, that Sarr was apprehended."
The third episode of the joint operation took place on January 14. L'Observateur recounts: "That day, around 5 p.m., investigators apprehended two more figures in the mafia, arrested respectively in Sacré Cœur and at the Jet d'Eau roundabout. They were J. Ndiaye, a decorator by trade, caught with nine slabs of hashish and MDMA, and S. Sagha, a Bissau-Guinean student residing in Grand-Dakar."
The newspaper of the Future Media Group reports that Ndiaye presented Sagha as his supplier. To verify this, the gendarmes asked him to place a drug order with him. He complied. "The meeting was arranged near the Auchan store in Sacré Cœur," recounts L'Observateur. "Sagha was apprehended during the delivery. A search of his room in Grand-Dakar led to the seizure of seven more slabs of hashish and 360 grams of MDMA. Investigators thus managed to dismantle all the members of the network, with the exception of PD, who remained at large."
