Trafic de migrants : le réseau Dakar-Cap-Vert-Gambie démantelé, le cerveau en fuite

The National Division of Cross-Border Investigations (DNIT) arrested and brought B. Soumaré before the prosecutor of the Financial Judicial Pool (PJF) for migrant smuggling by air, forgery and use of forged documents, and criminal conspiracy.

Libération, which provided the information, states that the investigation was launched following complaints from victims, including Y. Doucouré and S. Dembélé. They accuse a certain A. Kanouté, the alleged mastermind of the affair and currently on the run in Gambia, of having extracted a total of six million francs from them by promising a trip to Europe.

Investigators believe that Soumaré was Kanouté's right-hand man, responsible for providing false residence permits, issuing airline tickets, and facilitating the boarding of AIBD applicants.

The network managed to get seven candidates on board, who transited through Cape Verde to continue their journey with fake passports and French documents. They were eventually arrested and sent back to Senegal.

Arrested, B. Soumaré confessed to the facts, acknowledging that he had acted under Kanouté's instructions. A search of his phone confirmed the extent of the fraud, with the discovery of multiple forged documents, concludes Libération.
