The Dakar Regional Narcotics Brigade dismantled a psychotropic substance trafficking network operating at the Castors market. Two individuals were arrested and a large quantity of medication seized.

On February 4 and 5, 2026, elements of the Regional Narcotics Brigade (BRS) of Dakar, under the OCRTIS, carried out a large-scale operation in Castors, near the football field.

The intervention followed the exploitation of intelligence indicating the existence of a vast network trafficking in psychotropic substances at the Castors market, run by a trader named C.

Investigators made contact with the suspect and placed a test order for a box of Rivotril tablets at a price of 17,000 FCFA. The dealer's shop was designated as the location for the transaction. It was upon delivery that CD, 49, a merchant residing in Khar Yallah, was arrested in possession of the ordered item, according to Seneweb sources.

During the body search, 25,000 FCFA was found on him. A search of his shop led to the seizure of a large quantity of psychotropic substances, including 4 boxes of Alparaz, 43 boxes of Lexomil (1,075 tablets), 11 boxes of Valium (330 tablets), 2 boxes of Bromazepam, 2 packets of Temesta (60 tablets), and 47 boxes of Rivotril (470 tablets). Two mobile phones and 50,000 FCFA were also seized.

When questioned, CD admitted to possessing the psychotropic substances and agreed to cooperate in the arrest of his suppliers. He then placed a new order for three boxes of Lexomil at a unit price of 3,269 FCFA with his supplier. The Castors field was chosen as the delivery location.

This is how PMS, 54, who presented himself as a pharmacy salesman and resided in Castors, was arrested during the delivery of the three boxes of psychotropic drugs he had ordered, according to Seneweb sources. Two cell phones were found in his possession.

The two suspects were taken into custody for conspiracy, possession and trafficking of psychotropic substances.
