Tragédie à Mbirkilane : un quadragénaire alité tué par une attaque d'abeilles à Ngouye
The village of Ngouye, located in the commune of Ndiognik (Mbirkilane department), is in mourning. A 42-year-old man lost his life in horrific circumstances following a violent attack by a swarm of bees, Seneweb learned from local sources.
According to Assane Vilane, chief of the village of Ngouye, the victim was inside his room at the time of the attack. Weakened by illness and unable to move to safety, this married man was literally trapped. When he was discovered, he was completely covered in insects, in critical condition and suffering from respiratory distress.
Despite an attempted emergency evacuation to the regional hospital, the man in his forties did not survive. He succumbed to his injuries en route, before he could even receive initial intensive care.
Call for vigilance in the Kaffrine region
The village chief was keen to commend the swift response of the authorities, particularly the mayor of Ndiognik. The mayor quickly alerted the specialized services, who intervened to disperse the swarm and secure the surrounding homes, thus preventing the death toll from rising.
Faced with this invisible but very real threat, Assane Vilane is making a solemn appeal for caution. He urges his fellow village chiefs in the Kaffrine region to immediately report any presence of bee swarms near their properties to the relevant authorities in order to prevent another tragedy.
