Procès des supporters sénégalais détenus à Rabat : une audition controversée avant les plaidoiries
A major, but controversial, procedural step was taken on Thursday, February 12, at the Court of First Instance in Rabat, in the case of the 18 Senegalese supporters detained since January 18.
A five-hour hearing without assistance
According to Libération, they were questioned on the substance of the case. Significantly, the newspaper points out, this five-hour interrogation took place in the absence of their lawyers, raising concerns about respect for the rights of the defense.
The strike by Moroccan lawyers, which had paralyzed court hearings, officially ended on February 12, according to the daily newspaper. The court has scheduled the next stage, closing arguments, for Thursday, February 19.
The importance of the February 19th hearing
This hearing marks a true turning point in the trial. For the first time since the start of the proceedings, the lawyers will be able to present their arguments and challenge the charges against their clients.
"This hearing will be decisive for the fate of the 18 compatriots whose families and public opinion in Senegal are following the case with great anxiety," the same source concluded.
