Tribunal de Thiès : B. Sylla condamné à un mois ferme pour le vol d'une pintade
To make some money, young B. Sylla thought it best to steal his neighbor M. Sylla's guinea fowl and resell it. After committing the crime, he was spotted by the victim's younger brother haggling over the bird at the market.
Upon being informed, Mr. Sylla rushed to the scene, but he did not find the suspect. The latter had finished selling the guinea fowl for 6,500 CFA francs, with the help of his friend P. Diop, to whom he had given a commission of 2,000 CFA francs. Arrested following a complaint, the two thieves were remanded in custody for theft.
In the dock of the summary court, B. Sylla admitted to the facts. He confessed to stealing the guinea fowl and that it was P. Diop who sold it. However, the latter emphasized that he was unaware of the bird's fraudulent origin.
The public prosecutor has requested three months imprisonment for B. Sylla and two months imprisonment for P. Diop.
The judge sentenced B. Sylla to six months, including one month in prison, and acquitted P. Diop due to reasonable doubt.
