Tribunal de Thiès : Un coffreur récidiviste risque 2 ans ferme pour 35 cornets de drogue
D. Samb, a 40-year-old carpenter and resident of Mboro, appeared before the Thiès court on Wednesday, April 29, 2026. He is being prosecuted for offering or selling cannabis, a charge that carries a heavy sentence.
Already convicted twice in the past for drug use, the defendant was arrested again in possession of 35 packets of marijuana. During his hearing before the judge, D. Samb admitted to possessing the drugs, while vehemently denying any trafficking activity. In his defense, he maintained that the merchandise was intended solely for his eight workers on a construction site.
“I’m not a drug dealer. My workers gave me money to buy this cannabis for them. I was supposed to bring it back to the construction site; it was solely for their personal use,” he explained in court. The defendant also provided the identity of his alleged supplier, a certain Khaly Seck.
Despite these denials regarding drug trafficking, the public prosecutor argued that the acts of offering or transferring drugs were materially established by the handing over of money and the quantity seized. Emphasizing the defendant's criminal record and his status as a repeat offender, the prosecutor requested a two-year prison sentence. The court adjourned the case for deliberation and will deliver its verdict soon.
