Un militaire jugé à Thiès pour le vol de 20 millions FCFA et des achats de luxe
A soldier stationed in Kaolack appeared before the Thiès court on Monday. He is being prosecuted for stealing 20 million CFA francs from his own uncle.
According to the indictment, the defendant took advantage of his position of trust with his uncle to steal the latter's room key. He allegedly operated in two stages: a first fraudulent withdrawal of 10 million FCFA, followed by a second theft of the same amount a few days later.
After committing the crime, the soldier returned to his base in Kaolack. The investigation revealed that he had acquired an iPhone 16 and a motorcycle there. Investigators were able to trace several suspicious financial transactions on his phone, corroborating the embezzlement allegations.
In court, the defendant admitted to the theft, while denying that he had used the money to buy the phone and the motorcycle. Notably, the plaintiff did not appear in court. The uncle had chosen to withdraw his complaint after being reimbursed by his nephew.
Despite this withdrawal, the legal proceedings continue. The public prosecutor, considering the facts to be consistent and of proven seriousness, has requested a two-month prison sentence.
The verdict is expected on February 16, 2026.
