Un taximan piégé et ligoté à Touba : Son véhicule emporté, 3 des 4 agresseurs arrêtés
The Ndamatou police station's investigation unit has dismantled a gang specializing in violent assaults and vehicle theft. Three perpetrators have been arrested, while the fourth accomplice remains at large.
It was during the night of January 2nd to 3rd, 2026, that investigators in Ndamatou were informed of the activities of a criminal gang operating in their area of jurisdiction. The investigation revealed that this four-person gang had developed a well-oiled strategy: they would solicit the services of a city transport driver, whom they would then manage to overpower and tie up before seizing the vehicle and its contents.
A taxi driver trapped
On the night of January 5th to 6th, 2026, during the Magal of Darou Rahmane, the gang put its plan into action. Their target: F. Sène, a 25-year-old taxi driver. The criminals rented his Peugeot 406 to take them to the "Domaine Ba" neighborhood for 2,000 FCFA.
Along the way, the passengers asked the driver to change his route, claiming they had taken the wrong road. Once they reached a secluded, sandy alley, they ordered the vehicle to stop. That's when the trap was sprung: the passenger in the back left seat grabbed the driver by the neck and began strangling him, while his accomplice in the front seat pulled out a machete and threatened to kill him. The other gang members quickly tied him up with rope.
Once they had subdued their victim, the criminals transported him to the "Mbadianène" neighborhood where they dumped him in the bushes. Their loot: a Peugeot 406, two cell phones, and 88,000 CFA francs that the driver had withdrawn from a savings club.
Thanks to the work of investigators and with the help of an informant, law enforcement was able to locate two members of the gang. MCGuèye and M.Ngom were apprehended at the "Keur Baye Lahat" corner as they were preparing to meet a potential buyer to sell the stolen vehicle.
Placed in police custody, the two suspects confessed. They admitted their involvement in the attack and confirmed belonging to a four-person organization dedicated to attacking drivers and stealing vehicles. Their statements led to the identification of the two other accomplices: F. Sarr and C. Niang, nicknamed "Baye Fall".
The third arrest came quickly. Police officers swiftly apprehended F. Sarr. However, C. Niang, alias "Baye Fall," managed to escape and is currently the subject of a wanted notice.
The trio arrested will face serious charges in court: criminal conspiracy, armed robbery committed at night using a vehicle, violence, and carrying a bladed weapon. Investigators are actively continuing their search for the last member of the gang.
