USURPATION DE FONCTION : Un faux lieutenant de gendarmerie arrêté par la brigade de Diamniadio
The Diamniadio gendarmerie brigade arrested an individual who was impersonating a gendarmerie lieutenant. According to Seneweb, this man presented himself as Lieutenant Sy in the towns of Yène, Diamniadio, and Rufisque in order to extort money from unsuspecting citizens. He primarily targeted vulnerable individuals.
One day, he went to the home of Ms. AD in Niangal (Yène), where he allegedly issued her a traffic ticket before attacking her. When he tried to arrest her, neighbors intervened, asking the "lieutenant" to abandon the arrest. This man reportedly demanded a ransom of 200,000 CFA francs from the victim to drop the case, which she refused. Following this, the residents of Yène alerted the gendarmerie, who quickly launched a manhunt for the suspect.
To put an end to these activities, the Yène gendarmerie brigade, in collaboration with that of Diamniadio, set a trap for the suspect. Their method of operation consisted of contacting the accused by telephone to arrange a meeting at a specific location.
And when a relative of the victim AD called him, the fake gendarmerie lieutenant fell into their trap.
That is how they met in front of the Brioche Dorée in Diamniadio, where the accused was arrested by the gendarmerie.
He was then taken into custody at the Diamniadio gendarmerie brigade for the purposes of the investigation.
