Vélingara : La gendarmerie échange avec la population de Kandia sur la sécurité et la cohésion sociale
On Saturday, September 20, 2025, the Vélingara Territorial Gendarmerie Brigade, under the command of Chief Warrant Officer Tidiane Senghor, met with the population of the commune of Kandia, located in the Saré Coly Sallé district, Vélingara department. This meeting, organized in the town's public square, was a moment of frank exchanges between security forces and citizens. Several important topics were discussed.
The gendarmes emphasized the need to maintain social cohesion, a key to stability and peace in the community. They also raised public awareness about the fight against drug trafficking and the operation of unlicensed alcoholic beverage outlets, practices that undermine young people and disrupt public order.
The threat of terrorism was also raised, with security forces calling on residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious situations.
Furthermore, the commander of the territorial brigade called on the population to avoid discussions around sensitive issues that could sow discord.
The gendarmerie also emphasized the need to combat theft in all its forms and to increase awareness meetings between breeders and farmers in order to avoid conflicts linked to the exploitation of land and pastures.
This meeting is part of a proximity and prevention approach aimed at strengthening collaboration between the gendarmerie and the population, for better security and peaceful coexistence in Kandia.
