Vers la création de l’Ordre des travailleurs sociaux du Sénégal : un pas décisif franchi

This Tuesday, September 23, a workshop to validate the final report of the Code of Ethics and the process for creating the Senegalese Order of Social Workers was held in Dakar. This meeting marks a decisive step towards the structuring and official recognition of the social work profession in Senegal.

Presiding over the ceremony, the Director of Promotion and Protection of Vulnerable Groups (DPPGV), Souleymane Dia, stressed that social work, based on human dignity, is a lever for social transformation, cohesion and individual and collective emancipation.

He stressed that this dynamic is fully in line with Vision Senegal 2050, a development framework adopted in October 2024, which aims to build a sovereign, just and prosperous country based on endogenous, equitable and inclusive development.

Towards a national order to supervise an essential profession.

"Only close collaboration between all stakeholders will enable us to achieve concrete and lasting results," concluded Mr. Dia, calling for collective mobilization to realize this national ambition.

This project to create a national order aims to professionalize and supervise a key sector in the promotion of inclusion and social justice. It is based on a structuring process that began several years ago with the support of technical and financial partners.

"In 2014, the UNICEF Regional Office for West and Central Africa conducted a study in 24 countries on the state of the social workers corps and the training available to better guide policies to promote this profession. In Senegal, a consultant was recruited to lead the development of the Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct in accordance with international standards and local sociocultural realities," he recalls.

This process, based on a participatory approach, involved professionals in the sector, their organizations, and key stakeholders in social action. It marks a major step forward in recognizing the central role of social workers in protecting vulnerable populations and strengthening the social fabric.

Limité l'âge a 65 ans.
On ne peux pas être à la retraite et diriger ceux/celle qui sont encore en activités.
Pas plus de 5 syndicats pour toutes les entities du monde du travail et scolaire.
