The investigation into the rape of 14-year-old AB Kane has revealed gruesome details. After noticing his daughter was missing just after breaking her fast, her father, a teacher, began searching for her. Around 1:00 a.m., he was informed that she was in an apartment with several boys. There, he witnessed a horrific scene: his daughter was being raped repeatedly. Of the 12 individuals identified as suspects, 10 were brought before the Pikine-Guédiawaye prosecutor's office on Monday.
According to initial findings of the investigation conducted by Sicap-Mbao police and reported by L'Observateur, the victim's ordeal began two days before the incident. A first episode of abuse, involving two members of the gang, reportedly occurred on Tuesday but was not immediately reported.
The minor was then lured again, during the night of March 5-6, to an apartment belonging to the mother of one of the suspects, a businesswoman currently in Dubai. Taking advantage of her absence, her son regularly transformed the family home into a place of debauchery for his friends, whose average age ranged from 14 to 18.
The investigation also reveals shocking details that underscore the utter cynicism of this group of friends. The newspaper of the Future Media Group notes that among the identified perpetrators are two brothers, who share the same parents; the elder brother allegedly abused the minor before coldly handing the assault over to his younger brother.
Given the seriousness of the facts, the detectives of Sicap-Mbao have brought charges against a long list of offenses including criminal association, kidnapping and gang rape.
Although the investigation continues to determine whether the acts were committed under immediate physical duress, Senegalese law remains unequivocal: any sexual act on a minor under the age of 15 constitutes rape, as consent is never legally valid at that age. Currently, the police are actively searching for the shopkeeper's son and a second accomplice, both of whom are still at large, the same source added.
