Escroquerie au visa : Le faux agent d'Air Sénégal arrêté à Saly après avoir volé 30 millions
The Saly-Portudal police station has put an end to the activities of an individual involved in a large-scale visa fraud case, breach of trust, and withholding of administrative documents. The operation, conducted by the Criminal Investigation Unit, resulted in the arrest of a particularly active suspect, responsible for losses estimated at over 30 million CFA francs.
The events date back to April 2, 2026. While returning from an operation in Mbour, police officers were alerted by a citizen who claimed to have recognized his conman on Saly beach. The victim, who had paid 6 million CFA francs in 2025 for the supposed acquisition of a US visa, had never received the promised document.
The suspect's arrest quickly triggered a flood of complaints at the police station, revealing the extent of the fraudulent network. According to initial findings, the man used a well-rehearsed strategy to convince his victims. He notably impersonated an agent of Air Senegal and claimed to have access to visa quotas through the Reception, Orientation, and Monitoring Office (BAOS), within the framework of the Senegal-Spain 2026 circular migration program.
The investigation identified nearly fifty victims, all deceived by promises of expedited immigration procedures. The suspect confessed during questioning, admitting to embezzling the funds to invest in online sports betting.
A search of his home resulted in the seizure of 28 illegally held Senegalese passports, as well as 21 ID photos and two mobile phones.
The accused was brought before the prosecutor at the Mbour High Court. He will have to answer to charges of visa fraud, breach of trust, and illegal retention of administrative documents.
