Warrang : La gendarmerie saisit 600 kg de chanvre indien, un suspect interpellé
As part of the fight against drug trafficking, the Mbour gendarmerie company arrested a Senegalese man in the early hours of March 8, 2026, around 4:00 AM, for conspiracy and trafficking 600 kg of cannabis, Seneweb learned from Colonel Ibrahima Ndiaye. The operation followed a tip-off about drug trafficking activity on Warrang beach.
Using this information, members of the Saly research brigade, supported by those of the Nianing local brigade, set up a surveillance and interception operation on the premises.
Around 4 a.m., police officers surprised three cart drivers loading merchandise onto a pirogue coming from Casamance. Upon seeing them, two of them managed to escape, while the third driver was apprehended. Twenty packages of 30 kg of cannabis (600 kg in total) were seized, along with a horse and two carts. The investigation is ongoing to identify and apprehend the other members of the network involved in this trafficking.
