The manager of the "Youm Youm" restaurant in Ouakam was sentenced to six months in prison, including one month in prison, on Monday by the Dakar flagrante delicto court. Ch. F. Ba, 37, was found guilty of fraudulently accessing and maintaining a computer system, as well as obtaining undue advantages.

A diversion system based on ticket cancellation

The case dates back to July 2025, rewinds L'Observateur, which attended the hearing. Following complaints from customers about the disappearance of their loyalty points, the restaurant's management conducted an internal investigation. This revealed that the accused was canceling loyalty vouchers that had already been used and then personally collecting the corresponding amounts.

The events occurred on July 25, 26, and 27, when his superiors took over the cash register in his place to observe him. They noted that he had canceled 36 receipts, totaling 900,000 CFA francs. Previous cancellations, which have not yet been clarified, were also noted.

A revealing search

During a search of his room within the restaurant, investigators found 40,500,000 CFA francs in cash, according to the same source. When asked about the origin of the money, Ba said it was his personal savings, accumulated over ten years of working in the restaurant industry. He said he was single and had no children and had always managed his finances prudently.

But in court, he partially admitted the facts. The agent admitted to canceling tickets during the three days in question, but denied being the perpetrator of all the irregularities, including those that led to losses estimated at 9 million CFA francs. Ba offered to reimburse the sum of 859,500 CFA francs, which he acknowledged he had unduly received.

The civil party's lawyer, Mamadou Diallo, quoted by the Groupe Futur Médias daily, asked the court to reserve the civil interests, while it accurately assesses the total amount of damages suffered by the restaurant. The prosecutor, considering the facts to be established, requested a one-month prison sentence.

The court partially followed this indictment: the defendant was sentenced to six months in prison, one of which was suspended. The remainder of the sentence was suspended. Civil interests were reserved, in accordance with the request of the civil party's counsel.
