The management of the Ziguinchor Peace House has resurfaced. The head of the Scouts of Senegal, Antoine Ghislain Kaly, has raised the alarm about the management of this property by a third party for the benefit of a group for many years and is demanding its return to the Scouts. "It's no longer a house of peace, it's a house of discord," he fumed. This was to publicly condemn the occupation of the premises for years by a former Scout.

According to Antoine Ghislain Kaly, the House of Peace belongs to the scout movement, whose former scouts initiated the project in collaboration with the scouts and guides of France.

In an interview with the Ziguinchor Religion-Faith channel (RFZ), the general commissioner of the scouts of Senegal said he had met with Bishop Jean-Baptiste Walter Manga about this.

For Antoine Ghislain Kaly, the House of Peace must remain a scouts' heritage. "You can't take care of a scouts' property and expect people to be silent. It's impossible. I was elected here in Ziguinchor and this was one of the recommendations. The scouts of Senegal must, through the Casamance scout region, reclaim our heritage," he said.

The commissioner general of the scouts of Senegal does not rule out the idea of legal proceedings to recover this heritage. "For more than 15 years, people have been working on this case. There have even been legal proceedings that did not succeed due to incomplete documentation. But as scouts, this does not reflect well on us," he laments.

Mr. Kaly also said he personally contacted the person involved in this case to find an amicable solution, but to no avail: "When I took over this movement, I called him so we could try to see if there was compensation to be paid, if there was reimbursement to be made, so that we could do it properly. But he is someone who is not open to debate, who sticks to his position, even though (the House of Peace) is the heritage of all the scouts of Casamance."

Pending further developments, Antoine Ghislain Kaly invites all those linked to this program at the House of Peace to cease their collaboration with the manager of the premises.

"Today, there is no peace between the person occupying the House of Peace and the Scouts of Senegal. The partners and the people of Casamance should know that the premises this gentleman occupies belong to the Scouts of Senegal. We call on everyone to become aware of this issue. In a few months, this issue will cause a stir," warned Mr. Kaly.
