Ziguinchor : scandale à la mairie, dix agents interpellés pour…
A scandal has rocked Ziguinchor town hall: ten municipal officials have been arrested by the police for the illegal demolition of a building in the Boucotte Sindian district, on the outskirts of the town.
According to Libération, which reported the case, the case began with the arrest of three municipal officials, who were questioned at the Yamatogne police station and then referred to the prosecutor. Seven other officers were then arrested and taken into custody. They are expected to be presented to the prosecutor this Tuesday, before a possible transfer to the Ziguinchor Prison.
Could the mayor be involved? According to an internal source at the town hall cited by the newspaper, these agents acted on the instructions of Mayor Djibril Sonko. The latter, as well as his legal affairs officer, Mr. Niang, contacted by Libération, declined to comment on the matter.
The investigation is still ongoing, and none of the officers had received legal assistance at the time of the reported events, the same source said.
