ZIGUINCHOR : Trois individus tombent avec 415 g de cocaïne
Three individuals were arrested on November 8 by the Central Police Station of Ziguinchor for criminal association and international drug trafficking, involving 70 balls of cocaine.
According to the police, these arrests followed the apprehension, on November 8th, of an individual at the city's entrance. He was traveling in a public transport vehicle from Guinea-Bissau and was carrying 70 packets of cocaine. These were packaged in the form of a leather-wrapped amulet belts.
The seized goods consist of 10 belts with 4 amulets each and 6 belts with 5 amulets each, totaling 70 amulets and weighing 415 grams. Police specify that each belt has a tag bearing the recipient's name.
Further investigations led to the identification and apprehension of the true owner, along with his accomplice whom he had sent to retrieve the package, at the roundabout in Mbour. A pat-down search allowed investigators to discover and seize two mobile phones, an XC 300 motorcycle, and a wallet containing cash.
The search of the suspect's apartment resulted in the seizure of three mobile phones, a replica pistol, a batch of bank deposit receipts, a machete, a MacBook computer and an electronic scale.
When questioned about the drugs' destination, the owner of the package stated that he did not know the contents of the amulets. He maintained, however, that the intended recipients were abroad and would have to find a way to retrieve their amulets.
Following these arrests, the suspects were taken into custody and the investigation is ongoing.
