Ziguinchor : Un combat de lutte amateur nocturne dégénère en violences à Peyrissac
A video that has gone viral on social media shows a brawl between young people in the Peyrissac neighborhood on the outskirts of Ziguinchor. These pitched battles occurred at the end of an amateur wrestling match last Sunday night, which was heavily criticized by residents.
"On Sunday evening, the Peyrissac district was the scene of particularly worrying violence. Following an amateur wrestling match, organized unofficially, young people belonging to two factions of 'Jakarta men' clashed in the streets, transforming the district into a veritable scene of urban guerrilla warfare," testified a resident of the district.
This is not an isolated incident. "Unfortunately, this is not an isolated event. This is the second time that this type of clash has broken out in this area, creating a climate of growing insecurity among the inhabitants," he laments.
Indeed, for some time now, wrestling matches have been organized without any authorization, and nighttime motorcycle races are disturbing the local residents, who are questioning these behaviors and the dangers they face.
Some residents see their neighborhood as a dangerous zone where anything seems to go. "Between nighttime motorcycle races organized by certain groups of jakartamen and impromptu wrestling matches, Peyrissac seems to be gradually emerging as a new suburb given over to delinquency and excess. A youth left to its own devices, where all forms of provocation and unruly behavior now seem permissible."
The authorities have been called upon to intervene.
