Two suspected drug traffickers, SS Niang (22 years old), a tiler from Thiès, and O. Dièye (40 years old), an artist from Ziguinchor, were arrested on Wednesday, December 3, by the Central Office for the Repression of Illicit Drug Trafficking (Ocrtis) in Yamatogne, in the Boucotte district.
The Observer reports that they were caught red-handed as they were preparing to sell Indian hemp before being taken to the police station and their homes searched, revealing 100g of hemp, knives, a pair of scissors and packaging papers, typical of small-quantity resale.
During their detention, according to the newspaper of the Future Media Group, they revealed the existence of a structured network and provided the names of several accomplices, who are still at large. Brought before a judge and remanded in custody, Niang and Dièye were imprisoned at the Ziguinchor Detention and Correctional Center, where they await trial. The investigation continues to apprehend the other members of the network.
