Coupe du monde 2026 : le Brésil impressionne, le Maroc valide sa qualification avec caractère
Group C concluded on Wednesday. Brazil comfortably topped the group with a resounding 3-0 victory over Scotland. Meanwhile, Morocco secured second place and a spot in the round of 32 with a 4-2 win over Haiti.
Already qualified before this final matchday, the Seleção confirmed their status as favorites. Despite Neymar starting on the bench, the Brazilians quickly took control thanks to Vinicius Junior, who scored twice in the 7th and 45+3 minutes. The Real Madrid forward could even have completed a hat trick, but his goal in the 24th minute was disallowed for a foul deemed controversial on Jack Hendry.
Upon returning from the locker room, Matheus Cunha definitively sealed the match by scoring Brazil's third goal. In the final fifteen minutes, the coach made several changes, notably giving playing time to Neymar, who came on in the 76th minute. Solid and controlled, Brazil secured a deserved victory and finished top of the group.
In the other match, Morocco had to dig deep to overcome a courageous Haitian team (4-2). Despite already being eliminated, the Haitians surprised the Atlas Lions by taking the lead twice, first thanks to an own goal by Yassine Bounou (10th minute), then through Isidor (43rd minute).
The Moroccans, however, responded with character. Achraf Hakimi first equalized in the 39th minute, before Ismaël Saibari leveled the score in first-half stoppage time (45+2). In the second half, the Atlas Lions asserted their superiority. Soufiane Rahimi gave them the lead in the 78th minute, before Gessime Yassine sealed the victory in the 89th.
Thanks to this victory, Morocco finished second in Group C behind an impressive Brazil. Both teams thus continue their journey in the 2026 World Cup with high hopes.
