Coupe du monde 2026 : l’Angleterre enregistre un forfait
On the eve of their opening match at the 2026 World Cup, England are already facing bad news. Defender Tino Livramento is not expected to be available for the Three Lions' first match against Croatia, scheduled for Wednesday.
Having injured his calf during recent training sessions, the Newcastle player has been forced to withdraw from the squad just as he was preparing to experience his first major international tournament with the English national team. This absence represents a significant blow for the England coaching staff, who were counting on his versatility and speed on the right flank.
This latest injury comes on top of an already difficult season for Livramento, physically speaking. The 23-year-old full-back had already been hampered several times by knee and hamstring problems.
To compensate for this absence, the English Football Association is reportedly considering calling up Trevoh Chalobah. The defender, who has extensive experience at the highest level, could thus join the squad and bolster England's defensive options for the remainder of the tournament.
The Three Lions now hope that this setback will not affect their preparation before this highly anticipated match against a Croatian team that is always formidable in major competitions.
