Mondial-2026 : LâĂ©quipe nationale dâIran toujours sans visa amĂ©ricain
With less than a month to go before the start of the 2026 World Cup, concern is growing about the participation of the Iranian national team.
According to the president of the Iranian Football Federation, Mehdi Taj, no American visas have yet been issued to members of the team, even though the tournament will take place in the United States.
Faced with this situation, Iranian football authorities are now demanding guarantees from FIFA, amidst a still very tense diplomatic climate between Tehran and Washington. Iranian players are expected to travel to Ankara soon to complete the necessary administrative procedures to try and obtain their travel documents.
Placed in the same group as Belgium, Egypt and New Zealand, Iran must establish its base camp in Arizona during the competition.
Despite these uncertainties, a farewell ceremony was held Wednesday in Tehran before the players' departure for the World Cup.
