Coupe du monde 2026 : Ce que Thierry Henry pense de l’équipe du Sénégal
We'll have to be careful with the Lions of Teranga. That's the opinion of Thierry Henry, former French international, winner of the 1998 World Cup and football legend.
In an interview with the Spanish media outlet Marca, the former FC Barcelona and Arsenal footballer cited the team led by Pape Thiaw as one of the teams to watch during the 2026 World Cup, which will begin in less than a month in North America.
“Teams to watch? Portugal… You have to respect that team. And then there’s also England, a possible resurgence from Brazil, Norway, Senegal… the new Germany… In the World Cup, anything can happen, it depends on injuries, the draw, etc.,” said Thierry Henry. For the former French striker, anything is possible for the teams that seize their opportunity. “What’s unique about a World Cup is that you play it without really preparing for it. The coaches don’t have time to work. The players arrive with a huge number of matches under their belts, under pressure from all sides. That’s why there are sometimes disappointments,” added Thierry Henry.
At the 2026 World Cup, Senegal will play France, Norway, and then Iraq. The Lions will try to do better than the previous edition, where they were eliminated in the round of 16, losing 3-0 to England.
