Éliminatoires Mondial Basket 2027 : vive polémique sur le prix des billets pour Sénégal-RDC
Just hours before the crucial FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 qualifier between Senegal and the Democratic Republic of Congo, a heated controversy erupted over ticket prices. Many fans denounced a last-minute price increase, deeming it excessive and unjustified. Some claimed to have paid for their tickets in advance, only to learn they would ultimately have to pay double to gain entry.
Sports journalist Mor Bassine Niang, from Jolof Sport, didn't mince words. According to him: "The Senegalese Basketball Federation doesn't respect the Senegalese people. How can they raise ticket prices on the last day of the tournament? People who paid in advance are forced to pay double the price. It's disrespectful and even a rip-off. Senegalese people are attached to their national team, but that doesn't give you the right to treat them like idiots. It's outrageous."
These comments reflect the frustration of a segment of the public, devoted to the national team and loyal to every major competition. Senegalese basketball enjoys strong popular support. Games played at the Marius Ndiaye Stadium traditionally draw large crowds, especially when global competitions are involved.
But this sudden price increase is dampening the atmosphere surrounding a crucial match. For many fans, passion for the national team shouldn't be exploited at the expense of citizens' purchasing power. So far, no official statement has been made to explain the reasons for this price hike. Meanwhile, the debate continues to rage on social media, where many users are demanding greater transparency and respect for the fans.
