Mondiaux 2027 : le relais 4x400m sénégalais signe une qualification historique
Senegal's 4x400m relay team achieved a remarkable feat by qualifying for the 2027 World Athletics Championships in Beijing, during a competition held in Gaborone, Botswana.
Led by a talented squad including Cheikh Tidiane Diouf, Abdou Aziz Ndiaye, Abou Adama Sané, Frédéric Mendy, El Hadji Malick Soumaré, and Mouhamed Ba, the national team delivered a stellar performance against world powerhouses such as Jamaica, Germany, and Nigeria. Under the technical guidance of Papa Serigne Diène, the Lions impressed with their cohesion and the precision of their passing.
According to the first vice-president of the Senegalese Athletics Federation, as reported by L'Observateur, "this success is also the result of dedicated technical support," specifically mentioning the work of the coaches and the federal delegate. Reacting immediately after the event, El Hadji Bara Thiam, director of the Dakar International Meeting, emphasized the symbolic significance of this achievement: "This is a moment of great pride for Senegal. [...] Our athletes have shown that with rigor, discipline, and ambition, we can compete with the best nations."
This historic qualification marks a turning point for Senegalese athletics. It confirms the growing strength of the discipline on the international stage, with a now clear ambition: to shine at the world championships in 2027, hopes the daily newspaper of the Future Media Group.
