Saudi Arabia has a flair for excess. And it's ready to do anything to make the 2034 World Cup the craziest competition in history. This Monday, Paris Match unveiled the first images of the Neom Stadium project, a futuristic stadium created in the heart of the equally futuristic city, "The Line."
The plans are completely crazy. Suspended 350 meters above the ground, the arena is designed to accommodate 46,000 people, with breathtaking views of the city. It would almost look like a bird's nest perched high in a tree.

"The arena will be powered entirely by renewable energy," Paris Match reports. "Designed to be a symbol of innovation and sustainability, the NEOM Stadium is expected to be completed in 2032 and will host several matches of the 2034 FIFA World Cup, up to the quarter-finals."
The "Line" project, which will include the new stadium, is far from finished, however. Saudi authorities hope to unveil a first 2.4-kilometer section, with a height of 500 meters, by 2030. Just in time to calmly prepare for the 2034 World Cup and the hosting of the 48 teams planned for the event, which promises to be more grandiose than ever.
