Germany: Bayern Munich cruise to a comfortable 8-1 victory against Wolfsburg

Allemagne: le Bayern en promenade glaciale contre Wolfsburrg (8-1)

In a freezing Allianz Arena (-5 degrees at kick-off), Bayern Munich cruised to victory against Wolfsburg (8-1) in their first match of 2026, a win that gives them an eleven-point lead after 16 Bundesliga matchdays.

With 44 points (14 wins and two draws), Vincent Kompany's men have widened the gap on Borussia Dortmund (33), who were forced to draw on Friday in Frankfurt (3-3) after having led twice.

Bayern Munich's goals were scored by Kilian Fischer (5th minute, own goal), Luis Diaz (30th minute), Michael Olise (50th and 76th minutes), Moritz Jenz (53rd minute, own goal), Raphaël Guerreiro (68th minute), Harry Kane (69th minute), and Leon Goretzka (88th minute). Wolfsburg had equalized in the 13th minute through Dzenan Pejcinovic.

If they win on Wednesday (8:30pm) in Cologne, the Munich side will equal the total for the best first half of the Bundesliga season achieved by Bayern in the 2013/14 season for the first season under Pep Guardiola (47 points).
