Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal are preparing to clash for the ninth time in their history. Their first encounter dates back to 1994, when the two clubs met in the Cup Winners' Cup semi-finals. After a draw at the Parc des Princes (1-1), the Londoners prevailed at Highbury (1-0) and eliminated PSG just shy of the final.
The two teams had to wait until 2008 to face each other again, this time in the Emirates Cup. Arsenal won 2-1 against a PSG side still searching for its European prominence.
The official reunion took place during the group stage of the 2016-2017 Champions League. Both matches ended in draws: 1-1 in Paris and then 2-2 in London, already illustrating the balance between the two teams.
The rivalry took on a new dimension during the 2024-2025 season. In the league phase, Arsenal dominated PSG at the Emirates Stadium (2-0), confirming their growing strength on the continental stage. But the Parisians took their revenge a few months later in the semi-finals. Winning 1-0 in the first leg in London and then 2-1 in the return leg at the Parc des Princes, the Parisian club secured their place in the final.
Ahead of this new clash of titans, the head-to-head record remains remarkably close. Arsenal has three wins, PSG two, with three draws. The 2026 Champions League final will therefore be much more than just a match for the European title: it will offer one of the two clubs the opportunity to definitively gain the upper hand.
