BAL Saison 6 : Dakar zappée, Pretoria et Rabat à l’honneur
The Basketball Africa League (BAL) announced the details of its sixth season this Friday. During a virtual conference, league president Amadou Gallo Fall announced that the new season will begin on March 27 in Pretoria, South Africa. The announcement was marked by a significant absence: Dakar was not among the host cities for this season.
For this 6th edition, the 12 participating teams are divided into two conferences: Kalahari and Sahara. The BAL thus returns to a format already used in seasons 2 and 3, held in Dakar and Cairo respectively. This time, Pretoria and Rabat have been chosen to host the group stages.
Amadou Gallo Fall highlighted the dynamism of basketball on the continent to justify their choice. "The return of our team to South Africa, Morocco, and Rwanda for a sixth season testifies to the richness of the sporting culture and the rapid development of the basketball ecosystem in these countries. The BAL continues to inspire fans across the continent and foster the emergence of internationally recognized African talent," he said.
Pretoria has once again established itself as a stronghold of the BAL. For the third consecutive season, the South African capital will host league games. After hosting the Kalahari Conference in 2024 and the Finals in 2025, the city will once again host the Kalahari Conference from March 27 to April 5, 2026.
