BALLON D'OR 2025: AVEC NEUF NOMMÉS, LE PSG FAIT TOMBER LE RECORD DE MANCHESTER CITY ET DU BARÇA

The list of 30 nominees for the Ballon d'Or was announced this Thursday. Unsurprisingly, the Parisians are largely represented, with nine players from the capital club among the 30. This is an absolute record, as only Manchester City and FC Barcelona have been so well represented before, with eight players in 2023 and 2011.

The next logical step. After a historic season for PSG, nine players from the capital club are among the 30 nominees for the Ballon d'Or. The list unveiled this Thursday by France Football includes Gianluigi Donnarumma, Vitinha, Fabian Ruiz, Désiré Doué, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Achraf Hakimi, Joao Neves, Nuno Mendes, and Ousmane Dembélé.

Before PSG, FC Barcelona and Manchester City had managed to include eight players in this prestigious list of 30 nominees. In 2011, the Blaugrana saw Lionel Messi win the holy grail, while in 2023, Rodrigues scooped the prize for Manchester City. Does this bode well for Ousmane Dembélé? The French international is the overwhelming favorite.

Paris present in all categories

Beyond its strong presence in the list of 30 Ballon d'Or nominees, PSG also placed its players all over the place in the other categories. Two Parisians can claim the Kopa Trophy, which rewards the best under-21 player of the season. Désiré Doué, who fully revealed himself in the second half of the season, is included, as is the versatile Joao Neves. The overwhelming favorite for the title in this category, however, remains Barcelona prodigy Lamine Yamal, who could win this trophy for the second season in a row.

However, for the Yachine Trophy, one Parisian seems to be in the running to win it. Gianluigi Donnarumma was logically nominated and should win it without difficulty, as he was so decisive in PSG's final victory in the Champions League. He is notably in competition with his likely future teammate Lucas Chevalier.

Finally, among the five nominees for the Cruyff Trophy, which recognizes the best coach of the 2024-2025 season, a certain Luis Enrique is in the running. It's hard to imagine the Spanish PSG coach missing out on this award.

All these individual nominations are a reminder that the Parisian team has been particularly successful this season. PSG is obviously nominated for the title of best club of the season and will be competing with FC Barcelona, Botafogo, Chelsea, and Liverpool. Here again, Paris is the favorite. The presentation of all these trophies will take place on September 22 at the Théâtre du Châtelet.
