CAN 2025 : chances des Lions, l’aveu de Habib Bèye
In an interview published this Friday in L'Observateur, Habib Bèye, among other topics, spoke about the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, which Morocco will host starting next Sunday. Answering a question about the favorites for the competition, the Rennes coach named five, including Senegal, whom he considers "the clear favorite." However, the former Lion of Teranga quickly admitted: "I have a lot of love for my country, so I'm less objective."
Bèye is implicitly suggesting that Pape Thiaw's men will have to fight hard to secure a second star for Senegal on Moroccan soil. He's not wrong. The competition is fierce.
“Morocco is definitely a favorite, given the quality of their team and the fact that they are hosting the competition,” the coach emphasized. He also mentioned Ivory Coast, as the defending champions, Nigeria, a regular participant in “major tournaments,” and the DRC, “which managed to qualify for the World Cup playoffs.”
Habib Bèye is convinced that "there will inevitably be a team that is not expected, which will come and disrupt this hegemony of the very big ones a little."
