Can 2025 : liste des Lions, la date décalée
Change in the schedule. While the list of Lions for the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) 2025 in Morocco (December 21, 2025 - January 18, 2026) was initially announced this week, Les Échos indicates that the coach of the Senegal national A team, Pape Thiaw, will finally make public his first official list on Thursday, December 11, less than two weeks before the kick-off.
The Lions' official training camp will begin on December 15, the same source specifies. The newspaper points out, however, that this is a very short timeframe, as FIFA has decided to release the players on that date, leaving the staff little time to fine-tune their teamwork.
Senegal will begin the competition on December 23 against Botswana, before facing DR Congo on December 27 and Benin on December 30. These three matches will be crucial for reclaiming the title won in 2021 and lost in 2023.
For Pape Thiaw, this AFCON is his "real test" and represents a major opportunity to make his mark on the Lions' bench. However, the preparation promises to be challenging: he will have to deal with key players returning from injury, players lacking playing time, and intense competition in several positions, forcing him to make crucial strategic choices, as highlighted by Les Échos.
