Following Senegal's 3-0 victory over Botswana in their opening Group D match, Pape Thiaw expressed his satisfaction with his players' performance. He praised their seriousness and tactical discipline, displayed throughout the game.
"The most important thing is that we followed the instructions very seriously," the Senegalese coach emphasized. The Lions were able to find solutions against a well-organized opponent.
"They were grouped at the back, but we managed to break down their system, even though we could have scored more goals. What I take away most of all is the seriousness," he added.
Pape Thiaw also emphasized the importance of tactical variety in a high-level competition like the Africa Cup of Nations. "Today, all teams use video analysis. It is therefore essential to come prepared with several playing systems and to know how to switch from one formation to another during a match," he explained.
