Can Maroc 2025 : Abdoulaye Thiam écrit à Motsepe
The president of the International Association of Sports Press (AIPS-Africa), Abdoulaye Thiam, has appealed to the president of CAF, Patrice Motsepe, to denounce the entry conditions deemed too restrictive imposed by Morocco on journalists accredited for the 2025 AFCON, scheduled from December 21, 2025 to January 18, 2026.
Unlike previous editions (Cameroon 2021, Ivory Coast 2023), Morocco now requires journalists to obtain an electronic visa via the "Yalla" platform, a procedure which encounters many registration difficulties, he laments, as reported by Source A.
Emphasizing that organizers would benefit from remaining "in line with previous editions," where official accreditation was sufficient to obtain a free visa directly at the airport, Thiam proposes that accredited journalists be able to receive free visas upon arrival. This measure would allow media professionals to focus on their work rather than complex administrative formalities, while also promoting broader media coverage and enhancing the competition's visibility and the host country's international profile.
