CAN U17 2026 : Le Maroc accroché par la Tunisie
Host nation of the 2026 U17 Africa Cup of Nations, Morocco had a disappointing start to the tournament. The Atlas Lions were held to a 1-1 draw by Tunisia.
Facing a strong Carthage Eagles side, the young Moroccans struggled considerably. It was no surprise when Tunisia opened the scoring thanks to a magnificent swivel shot from Yahia Jlidi (28th minute).
In the second half, the Atlas Lions pressed forward, but they lacked a clinical edge in the final third. It wasn't until the last quarter of an hour that they finally snatched an equalizer with a left-footed strike from Ilian Hadidi (76th minute).
With this disappointing draw, Morocco, the defending champions, will have to show a completely different side in their next match if they want to retain their title.
