"Ce sera peut-être la clé du match" : Ferdinand Coly prédit le choc Sénégal - Egypte
After their final at the 2021 AFCON, Senegal and Egypt meet again in the semi-final of the 2025 AFCON. In the same match, there will once again be a confrontation between the two superstars, Sadio Mané on one side and Mohamed Salah on the other.
Despite their age, both players remain crucial for their national teams. Former Lions defender Ferdinand Coly believes that whoever gets the better of the other could decide the match for their country. "This might be the last time these two immense players face off for their respective national teams. This reunion is highly anticipated. If they're on form, they can tip the score one way or the other. That could be the key to the match. Sadio Mané has won the AFCON, Mohamed Salah never has, and I know he's made it a goal," Coly said in an interview with Jeune Afrique.
The former Lens and Parma player also expressed his admiration for the Egyptian team's style of play. "They are a truly impressive collective force. Solid, able to withstand pressure, they are cunning and have the ability to outmaneuver any opponent, as was the case against Ivory Coast in the quarter-final (3-2). You often get the impression they're going to buckle, but they often hold firm thanks to their solidarity. Mentally, the Egyptians are very strong. But to reduce this team to its solidity and tactical discipline would be too simplistic. They also possess a certain technical quality and can count on two very high-level strikers: Omar Marmoush and, above all, Mohamed Salah," added the former right-back.
For this clash, Ferdinand Coly thinks the match will be close like the last ones, but predicts a 1-0 or 2-1 victory for the Lions of Senegal.

Mais je pense que l équipe sénégalaise est plus expérimentée et elle a la patience de revenir et même de renverser la situation quand elle est menée au score et ça les égyptiens le savent.
