Coupe de France : Habib Beye refuse tout excès de confiance malgré l’élimination du PSG
Paris Saint-Germain's elimination in the round of 32 of the Coupe de France has reshuffled the deck and opened up a world of possibilities in the competition. But in Marseille, there's no question of getting carried away.
At a press conference this Tuesday, Marseille coach Habib Beye was keen to temper any premature enthusiasm. While the absence of the Parisian club changes the picture, the Senegalese manager pointed out that the level of competition remains high, with teams like RC Lens, Olympique Lyonnais, RC Strasbourg, FC Lorient, OGC Nice, Toulouse FC, and Stade de Reims still in contention.
“There are still some very big teams in the Coupe de France. I don’t see OM’s journey based on what PSG has done. It’s important that we set very high objectives to create competition. It’s up to us to be very motivated to achieve that objective,” he said.
On the eve of the quarter-final against Toulouse FC, Beye also dismissed any idea of prioritizing competitions. There was no question of sacrificing Ligue 1 for the sake of the Cup. "We're going to play both competitions to the fullest. There's no need to choose. We have to go for these trophies and achieve these objectives, match after match," he insisted, aware that the trip to Toulouse would be particularly difficult.
