Coupe de France : Malang Sarr désamorce la polémique après son accrochage avec Moussa Niakhaté
The French Cup quarter-final between Racing Club de Lens and Olympique Lyonnais (2-2, 5-4 on penalties) was marked by intense tension on the pitch. During this hard-fought match, a heated exchange occurred between Senegalese international Moussa Niakhaté and Lens defender Malang Sarr, who is of Senegalese origin.
The incident occurred after what was initially considered a minor incident, but which quickly escalated into a heated exchange between the two players. Footage of their altercation sparked numerous comments. Faced with the controversy, Lens defender Malang Sarr felt compelled to clarify the situation and calm tensions.
“We had a bit of a clash. Moussa is my brother and he will always be my brother. We can clash like that on the field, but in the end we always apologize. That’s football: he wants to win, I want to win too. At times things can get heated, but brothers bicker and then everything is fine,” explained the defender from the Artois club.
Malang Sarr also clarified that the disagreement stemmed from an incident involving Corentin Tolisso. According to him, the Lyon midfielder had chased a Lens player to win back the ball, a situation that sparked a disagreement between the two Senegalese internationals.
“He defends his team, I defend mine. We disagreed on a situation where Corentin Tolisso ran after Ganiou to win the ball back. Moussa wanted his team to play quickly and win the ball back, and I told him it wasn’t normal to run after a player to take it from him. We had a bit of a disagreement afterwards, but it’s nothing at all. That’s football… and Moussa is still my brother,” he added.
Despite this tense episode, Malang Sarr insisted that there was no problem between him and Moussa Niakhaté, recalling that this type of clash is common in the intensity of a high-stakes match.
